Phenotype refers to the observable characteristics (behaviors) in an individual that arise from the expression of genes (form/matter). It is becoming even more common for us to perceive the evolution of our species as striving towards a hivemind like entity, a state of true unity even in a collective sense. Loved your work again, keep it up!

This is the comic that made me realize you don't hate humanity. And you're just like me, you recognize our potential, that even across time, even across space, we have the potential to endure, if we are wise in our actions, and we drive ourselves forward in spite of the odds.
Your stories do not feel like stories of hopelessness or a sour hate for the universe or mankind, they are an anthem of possibility. They are not suffering without meaning, they are a testament to the human desire to prevail.
The birds are merely a metaphor for an ideal mankind. They are the humanity you want, the humanity you need.

Could this be about cells? Formless micro-organisms that intertwine amongst one another and change to suit whatever need they have. A collective group that becomes a singular greater being with no acknowledgement of the intelligence of a single cell other than being a part of itself. It's own being, a self contained system, a construct of immense magnitude to form it's knowledge of the entirety of it's universe. With the world around it taken in as truth of every living being a separate universe just as intelligent and complex as itself.
Or it could just be a fancy way to say birds have a god complex
